Before you actually digitize footage, it is important to fully understand the hardware requirements that will be required. Your computer will require a large amount of hard drive space. If we were talking about digital images, these files would be measured in kilobytes and perhaps even megabytes. Our discussion of digital video will require the use of terms such as megabytes and often gigabytes. The raw, uncompressed digital video that you digitize from the camera to the computer will be have enormous files sizes attached to them. Final, compressed digital video clips created after the editing process will be smaller than the raw footage, but these files are still quite large. |
